In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive health services to students, ensuring their safety, well-being, and readiness to learn. Your expertise will support students with diverse health needs, promote health education, and collaborate with staff and families to foster a healthy school environment. Responsibilities Conduct thorough student health assessments, including vital signs, anatomy and physiology evaluations, and patient history reviews. Administer medications, injections, IV insertions, and other treatments following established protocols and HIPAA regulations. Manage medical documentation accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and maintain detailed medical records for each student. Respond promptly to medical emergencies in the school environment, utilizing emergency medicine expertise and Basic Life Support (BLS) skills. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to develop individualized health plans for students with chronic or acute conditions. Provide health education on topics such as infectious disease prevention, hygiene practices, and wellness strategies tailored for school-aged children. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations including HIPAA and maintain confidentiality of sensitive medical information. Requirements Valid certification as a School Nurse with current licensure in nursing practice. Registered Nurse Extensive experience working as a registered nurse in settings such as Level II trauma centers, hospital medicine units, or emergency rooms. Proven expertise in emergency medicine procedures including IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration, and patient assessment. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR systems used for medical documentation. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient care protocols relevant to pediatrics and school-aged populations. Experience managing infectious diseases and providing care in diverse environments such as outpatient clinics or urgent care facilities. Ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations involving urgent or acute care needs. Strong communication skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams while maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines. Additional experience in Geriatrics or post-acute care is a plus but not required; a commitment to ongoing professional development is highly valued.
