Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Registered Nurse to join our mental health care team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges across various settings. Your expertise will support patient recovery, promote well-being, and ensure adherence to best practices in psychiatric nursing. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including mental status examinations, vital signs, and behavioral observations, to inform individualized care plans. Administer psychiatric medications accurately, including injections and IV infusions, while monitoring for adverse reactions. Assist with specialized treatments such as Botulinum toxin therapy and other outpatient procedures related to psychiatric and neurological conditions. Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques for patients experiencing acute episodes or behavioral disturbances. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and case managers to develop and implement effective treatment plans aligned with patients' needs. Maintain detailed and accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, medication management, and coping strategies. Support discharge planning processes by coordinating follow-up care, community resources, and medication reconciliation. Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during all patient interactions. Participate in ongoing training related to trauma medicine, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, trauma response procedures, and other specialized areas as needed. Requirements Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current registration in the relevant jurisdiction. Proven experience in psychiatric nursing or behavioral health settings; experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable. Knowledge of psychiatric medications administration including injections, IV infusions, and medication reconciliation processes. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic for documentation and patient record management. Strong understanding of mental health assessment tools, crisis intervention techniques, and trauma-informed care practices. Experience working in diverse environments such as inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient clinics, or long-term care facilities including memory care or hospice settings. Ability to perform physical examinations when necessary and support patients through therapeutic activities involving physical assessments. Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality and privacy of patient information. Additional skills in laboratory specimen collection/processing, sterile processing techniques, or advanced critical care experience are advantageous.
