Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a vital role supporting students' well-being as an experienced Registered Nurse during the Extended School Year (ESY) session at an elementary school near Hudson, NY. As a school-based RN, you will play an essential part in maintaining a healthy and safe learning environment for students during the summer program. Your responsibilities will include providing daily medical care for students, managing medications, attending to any urgent health concerns, and supporting staff in fostering a culture of wellness. You'll collaborate closely with educators and administrators, ensuring individualized care plans are followed and health protocols are maintained.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York Previous experience working in pediatric or school settings is highly desirable Certification as a School Nurse (CSN) is a plus Strong understanding of school health regulations, medication administration, and emergency response Excellent communication, documentation, and triage skills Adaptability and a compassionate, student-centered attitude Key duties and expectations: Provide daily nursing support from 8 am to 11 am during ESY session Administer prescribed medications and treatments Respond to medical needs and emergencies promptly and effectively Oversee implementation of individual health care plans Serve as a health resource for staff, students, and families Ensure compliance with school policies and New York state health regulations This contract opportunity allows for a focused, part-time schedule at a single elementary location during ESY—a great fit for nurses seeking flexibility and meaningful impact in their community.
