Overview Scarsdale Early Childhood Program is seeking a caring, knowledgeable, and dependable Part-Time School Nurse to support the health and well-being of children in our early childhood and school-age programs. The School Nurse will provide nursing care and health support to children, communicate with families and staff regarding health needs, and help ensure that the program follows appropriate health and safety practices. Responsibilities Provide nursing care and health support to children in an early childhood and school-age setting. Monitor and manage children with special health care needs, including, but not limited to, diabetes, as outlined in the child's individualized health plan. Administer prescription and non-prescription medications in accordance with physician orders, parent/guardian authorization, and applicable regulations. Maintain accurate and confidential health and medication records. Monitor children for illness, injury, and other health concerns and determine when additional medical attention may be necessary. Provide first aid and emergency care as needed. Maintain individualized health care plans and emergency care plans, as applicable. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding children's health needs, medication, injuries, illnesses, and changes in health status. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support children's individual health and medical needs. Provide guidance and support to staff regarding children's health conditions, medication procedures, allergies, and emergency care plans. Assist with maintaining required medical and immunization records and health documentation. Help ensure that medication and medical supplies are properly stored, secured, labeled, and maintained. Provide health-related training and guidance to staff, as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment when handling sensitive health information.

Qualifications:

Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required. Pediatric, school nursing, early childhood, or community health experience preferred. Experience caring for children with diabetes and administering medications preferred. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, teachers, and administrators. Compassionate, patient, and comfortable working with young children. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to medical and emergency situations.

Pay:

$50.00 - $75.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 30.0 per week
