Mercy Hospital's 2M Med/Surg & Telemetry Unit provides care to diverse populations of surgical and medical/telemetry patients. Surgical patients in this unit have typically undergone abdominal surgery or hysterectomy and have drains or need wound care. There are also many cardiac and stroke patients on this high-acuity floor. 2M is an inclusive unit that fosters respect, collaboration and support among all caregivers and prioritizes open communication to ensure that everyone feels heard and valued. Your goal as an RN on the team will be advancing recovery to discharge as quickly as possible, ensuring safety for our patients. 2M also encourages RNs to obtain med/surg certification and participate in the Nurse Practice Council and Professional Congress . A PRN caregiver in this position works varying days and hour s, including weekends and holidays. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care. Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing ( Diploma, ADN or BSN program) Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience Internal applicants with less than two years' experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval Will consider military RN experienc e Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of S cience in N ursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Pay Range Minimum hourly:

$43.00 Maximum hourly: $43.00 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education.
