12 weeks 8 hour shifts, 4 days a week: day shift position 8am-5 pm, with some variations with start times Oncology•chemotherapy infusion experience required Job Summary Join our dynamic outpatient oncology team as a Registered Nurse (RN), where your expertise will directly impact patient care and treatment outcomes. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, comprehensive nursing care to individuals undergoing cancer treatment in a fast-paced outpatient setting. Your skills in patient assessment, medication administration, and coordination of care will help empower patients on their journey to wellness. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and physical examinations to determine current health status. Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive medications with precision, adhering to safety protocols and aseptic techniques. Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, medication management, side effects, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, pharmacists, social workers, and radiation therapists—to develop personalized care plans. Monitor for adverse reactions or complications during treatments such as IV infusions or botulinum toxin procedures; respond promptly to emergencies. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with triage by evaluating patient symptoms over the phone or in person to determine urgency and appropriate next steps. Qualifications Valid RN license in good standing; previous experience in outpatient oncology preferred but not required. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD-10 coding is a plus. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and pharmacology related to oncology treatments. Experience with IV insertion, medication administration including injections, and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient care. Ability to perform complex patient assessments and recognize signs of acute pain or adverse reactions promptly. Critical care experience including ICU or emergency medicine backgrounds highly desirable for managing urgent situations. Knowledge of infection control practices and sterile processing procedures necessary for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
