Brainard Surgery Center is an ambulatory surgery center providing high-quality, patient-centered surgical care in a comfortable outpatient setting. Our center specializes in orthopedics, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, pain management, and podiatry and we are committed to excellence, safety, and compassionate care.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pre-OP/PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) Registered Nurse to join our perioperative team. The ideal candidate will have experience in pre- and post-operative recovery care, strong clinical judgment, and a calm, professional demeanor. As a PACU Nurse, you will provide high-quality, recovery-focused care for patients emerging from anesthesia following outpatient procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and assess patients as they recover from anesthesia Administer medications and IV fluids as needed Manage post-operative pain, nausea, and vital signs Identify and respond to adverse symptoms or complications Provide clear post-op instructions to patients and caregivers Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and OR staff Ensure accurate documentation in patient records Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient recovery environment
Qualifications:
Current RN license in Ohio BLS and ACLS certification (required) PALS certification (preferred or required depending on case types) Minimum 1-2 years PACU or similar experience required Knowledge of PACU protocols and recovery room best practices Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work well in a fast-paced outpatient surgical setting
