Job Description

School Nurse Supervisor:

Minimum Qualifications :
Valid Ohio School Nurse license or Ohio State issued nursing license Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Successful experience as a nurse. Ohio BCI and Federal Background check free of disqualifying infractions Comply with drug-free workplace rules and board policies Participate (and pass where applicable) in all required trainings, including but not limited to: Bloodborne Pathogens, Crisis Intervention, Educator Ethics, etc. Embody high ethical standards, integrity, and accept responsibility for decisions and conduct
Essential Functions:
Provide comprehensive student health services in accordance with District policies and administrative guidelines, Operating Standards for Ohio Schools, and the provisions of State and Federal law. Administer health and wellness screenings as prescribed and provide appropriate reports, referrals, and follow-up. Consult with parents and school staff, as appropriate, regarding health assessment results and assist in interpretation of professional recommendations. Coordinate implementation of physical exams/appraisals and health screenings for students. Work in conjunction with District staff to promote instructional services and support for special needs students in accordance with individualized education plans (IEPs), 504 plans, and/or other District-authorized accommodation plans. Provide leadership in the development of intervention strategies and of IEPs and in the implementation of due process rules and procedures. Coordinate health services for students as needed to support their participation in District field trips and other District curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities and events. Provide training and supervision for District health care paraprofessionals. Engage parents and community members in the educational process and in the support of student learning, achievement, and overall well being. Develop and maintain positive school-community relationships and timely communications. Maintain up-to-date and accurate cumulative student health records, immunization records, and student health plans. Implement exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with District policies and county/state health department regulations. Consult with students and parents as an advocate regarding health issues, allergies, chronic health conditions, physical disabilities, and related issues. Consult with District staff regarding student referrals, prevention and intervention strategies, health issues, chronic health conditions, physical disabilities, and related issues. Conduct first aid and emergency health/safety response training for staff. Provide information and consultation to District personnel regarding state and federal laws, regulations, and issues involved with the identification and delivery of services to students with disabilities. Collect necessary data, keep records, and submit reports for services provided through pupil services as required by the Ohio Department of Education, the United States Department of Education, and the District as assigned. Administer first aid and emergency health treatment as needed. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in the development and implementation of school health, wellness, and safety programs and provide recommendations for policy and administrative guidelines updates. Requisition and acquire material, supplies, and equipment as needed to carry out the program. Meet the professional expectations of attendance, suitable attire and decorum, participation in school and District meetings/functions, and support of District initiatives. Respond to specific requests from the Principal and Director on matters affecting the program and operation of the District.
