Job Description
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education- Incumbent must be a current licensure as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Oklahoma Experience
- One year of relevant experience. Licenses & Certification
- Incumbent is required to possess current licensure by the State of Oklahoma or National Council of State Boards of Nursing for Registered Nurse and current BLS required. Must have CPI or similar within 60 days of employment. Knowledge & Skills
- Professional knowledge of nursing care principles, ethics, practices and processes required to assess nursing needs of patients.
JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the position is to provide nursing services and support to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Medical Center (MCNMC). The Registered Nurse will consistently display behavior that enhances the image of the health care system as evidenced by professional and courteous behavior toward all customers and co-workers. The RN is primarily responsible for the delivery of coordinated, clinical nursing care for geriatric patients on the inpatient psychiatric unit for the day-to-day management of the related clinical activities.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a non-ambulatory health care setting. There is common exposure to infectious communicable diseases, potentially hazardous chemicals and biohazardous materials. The work may include a certain amount of exposure to hostile and emotionally disturbed patients, families and visitors. Must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as requested and required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work in a non-ambulatory health care setting requires considerable walking between workstations and patient care areas. Work requires regular and recurring bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting of patients or similar activities. Incumbent must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Position also requires ability to cope with constant changes in a stress-laden environment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following: Participates in the assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating (review and revise) of nursing care plan and Master Treatment Plan. Evaluates the patient status, interventions, patient response to interventions and updates the plan of care accordingly. Provides for emotional support, physical comforts, and safety of patients. Assists with all activities of daily living and personal care needs. Observes, records, and reports signs, symptoms and responses of patient change in condition or reaction to treatments to the appropriate persons. Competent to perform as Charge Nurse, oversee unit flow, operations, and work standards, provide and oversee direct patient care. Administer medications (inpatient), Observes for physical and emotional contraindications to the medications administered. Prepares and administers therapeutic treatments prescribed for the patient. Perform admissions, discharges, intakes, crisis calls, patient assignments, acuities, patient rounding, Physician rounding, case management, discharge planning, patient education, Treatment Planning, Behavioral Health assessments in ED and medical floors (inpatient), interface with physicians, community, families, as well as other external community resources and internal customers. Provides group activities such as Medication Review, Goals Group, Current Events. Provides first-aid and emergency care as well as provides for resuscitation procedures in cardiac and/or respiratory arrest as well as assisting with disaster measures as needed. Shares responsibility in ensuring that the hospital has adequate supplies and equipment, a safe environment is maintained, and general upkeep of the facility is done on a continual basis. Maintains RN, Hope Unit Core Competencies. Attends at least 75% of department staff meetings. Participation on assigned committees. Regular attendance is required. Performs other duties as assigned.
