Mission Statement:
First Image exists to be a life-affirming presence in Greater Portland by serving those most at risk for abortion with medically professional women's health and pregnancy support services so they can make informed decisions and receive holistic care for their early pregnancy needs.
Job Purpose:
The ministry of First Image is shaped by our core convictions and commitments about who God is, who we as God's people are, and how God directs us to fulfill His intentions for our community. We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. We believe and affirm that life begins at conception, at which time the full genetic blueprint for life is in place. We view life from conception through birth to be uniquely vulnerable, and therefore work to protect and defend life in these early stages. First Image is an outreach ministry of Jesus Christ through His church. Therefore, we are committed to presenting the gospel of our Lord to women facing unplanned pregnancies— both in word and in deed. Commensurate with this purpose, the ultrasound nurse is expected to know Christ as their Savior and Lord and be willing and able to communicate about the salvation that Jesus offers to those who choose to believe that He died on the cross for their sins. The ultrasound nurse will advance the mission of the organization by providing medical services intended to uphold the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of the women seeking services as well as of the unborn children they carry. Because of the above stated convictions and duties expected of this role, unwavering agreement with First Image's mission, vision, core values, and core convictions is mandatory.
Our Ultrasound Nurse Will Be:
A Defender of Life
- a nurse who believes that every patient (whether born or unborn) is fully human, and works to treat each woman with love, compassion, gentleness, and truth. A Promoter of Excellence
- a nurse who strives to do her job with integrity and professionalism, is eager to identify and address her own weak spots, and gives compassion and grace to herself, our patients, and other team members. A Firm Believer
- a nurse who believes that God's truth and design, as opposed to human wisdom and current cultural norms, leads to most flourishing for every person regardless of their circumstances.
