Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Alcohol and Addiction Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide specialized nursing care to individuals battling substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Duties Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and behavioral evaluations to determine appropriate care plans. Administer medications and treatments such as opioid antagonists, detoxification protocols, and other pharmacological therapies following strict safety guidelines. Monitor patient responses to treatments, manage withdrawal symptoms, and adjust care plans accordingly to ensure safety and comfort. Educate patients and their families about addiction processes, relapse prevention strategies, and available community resources for ongoing support. Collaborate with physicians, counselors, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized recovery plans aligned with best practices. Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide crisis intervention during acute episodes or behavioral emergencies, utilizing de-escalation techniques and emergency response procedures. Qualifications Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs is highly desirable. Knowledge of addiction treatment modalities including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), trauma-informed care, and relapse prevention. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation purposes. Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, and pharmacology related to addiction medicine. Critical care experience or background in acute care settings such as ICU or emergency medicine is preferred. Ability to perform clinical skills including IV infusion, suturing, phlebotomy, and aseptic technique with precision.
