Job Description
Nurse Case Manager/Worker's Comp Specialist The Nurse Case Manager/Worker's Comp Specialist is responsible for coordinating and optimizing medical care for injured workers within the Oregon workers' compensation system. This role collaborates closely with physician reviewers, treating providers, and claims staff to determine appropriate levels of care, explore treatment and provider options, and address barriers to recovery. Key Responsibilities Review level-of-care determinations and support physicians by gathering clinical information and asking follow-up questions. Engage with treating providers when scheduled medical case management calls do not occur, speaking on behalf of the physician reviewer as appropriate. Educate providers and injured workers on Oregon workers' compensation requirements, processes, and responsibilities. Identify psycho-social and claim-related risk factors that may delay recovery and help develop plans to address them. Coordinate resources and referrals for injured workers, including community supports such as housing or food assistance when needed. Mentor and coach claims staff on medical and technical elements related to medical treatment review and case management. Support process improvement efforts related to medical treatment review and medical case management, including implementing new tools and workflows. Qualifications Current Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) license. At least 3 years of workers' compensation, clinical, and/or case management experience. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with providers, claims staff, and other stakeholders.
Salary:
$90K-$100K/year.
