Key Responsibilities for the Mental Health Registered Nurse (MHRN):Assessment and Planning:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health status, develop individualized care plans, and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers.Skilled Nursing Care:
Provide direct nursing care, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, managing symptoms, and providing emotional support.Education and Support:
Educate patients and families on medication management, coping strategies, and self-care techniques.Crisis Intervention:
Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, therapists, and social workers.Documentation:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.Case Management:
Coordinate care and follow-up for patients, ensuring continuity of care. Specific Tasks for the Mental Health Registered Nurse (MHRN): Assessing patients' mental health needs. Developing and implementing treatment plans. Administering medications and monitoring for side effects. Providing counseling and emotional support. Managing behavioral issues and crisis situations. Educating patients and families about mental health conditions. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals. Monitoring patient progress and making adjustments to the treatment plan as needed.
