Job Description

Infection Control Nurse / Nursing Supervisor Loyalhanna Care Center | Latrobe, PA You know that nurse who walks onto the unit and somehow notices the hand sanitizer is empty, someone forgot PPE, a resident looks just a little "off," AND three people have already asked them a question before they even put their bag down? Yeah. We want that nurse. Loyalhanna Care Center is looking for an experienced, organized, and proactive Part-Time Infection Control Nurse / Nursing Supervisor to join our team. This is not a "sit behind a desk and check boxes" position. We're looking for someone who enjoys being visible on the units, working alongside the nursing team, educating staff, spotting trends, solving problems, and helping us stay one step ahead when it comes to infection prevention and resident safety.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
In this combined role, you'll help support our Infection Prevention and Nursing leadership programs, including: Supporting and monitoring the facility's Infection Prevention & Control Program Conducting infection surveillance and identifying potential trends Reviewing infection-related documentation, antibiotic usage, cultures, isolation precautions, and clinical concerns Performing infection control rounds throughout the facility Providing education and coaching to nursing and other facility staff Reinforcing proper hand hygiene, PPE, transmission-based precautions, and infection prevention practices Assisting with audits, tracking, documentation, and performance improvement activities Communicating findings and concerns to nursing leadership Helping prepare for regulatory surveys and maintaining survey readiness Serving as a Nursing Supervisor during assigned supervisory hours Supporting nurses and CNAs with clinical questions and resident-care concerns Assisting with admissions, changes in condition, emergencies, staffing situations, and other nursing supervisory responsibilities Working collaboratively with the DON, ADON, Infection Prevention team, providers, pharmacy, laboratory, and interdisciplinary team And, occasionally, being the person who says: "Before we do that…did anyone wash their hands?" We consider that a superpower.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Our ideal candidate is someone who: Holds a current Pennsylvania nursing license Has long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar clinical experience Has strong assessment and critical-thinking skills Is comfortable providing direction and education to staff Can identify a problem without creating unnecessary drama around it Is organized enough to follow data and trends but practical enough to understand what actually happens on a nursing unit Communicates well with residents, families, staff, physicians, and leadership Is dependable, approachable, and willing to jump in when needed Understands that good infection prevention is about much more than a binder on a shelf Infection Preventionist training/certification or prior infection control experience is preferred , but we are also interested in experienced nurses with strong leadership skills who are willing to grow in this area.
WHY LOYALHANNA?
At Loyalhanna Care Center , we want nurses who bring ideas to the table. We believe our clinical leaders should be present, approachable, involved, and empowered to make things better. This position is a great fit for a nurse who wants: A leadership opportunity A role with variety instead of doing the exact same thing every shift Experience in Infection Prevention and nursing supervision The ability to teach, lead, investigate, and problem-solve A supportive leadership team An opportunity to make a noticeable impact on resident care A position where your clinical judgment actually matters
THE BOTTOM LINE
If you're the nurse who notices the little things… If you like finding the "why" behind a problem… If you'd rather prevent an issue than explain one later… And if you can lead a nursing unit without losing your sense of humor… We should probably talk. Apply today to join the team at Loyalhanna Care Center in Latrobe, PA. Come help us keep our residents safe, our staff sharp, and our germs very uncomfortable. Loyalhanna Care Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
