This position is accountable for the overall quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under his/her direction. RN is supervised by and responsible to the nurse manager or designee of the unit assigned at client hospital or facility and to the Plexsum Staffing Solutions, Inc. clinical nurse leader or designee. This position is classified as a "safety sensitive" position as defined by OSHA and the PA Medical Marijuana laws. Errors in the evaluation or treatment could cause serious harm to patients and potential liability to the facility, and to our organization. As a "safety sensitive" classification, you will be subject to pre-employment and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana card will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana or other drugs and medications. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Primary Functions 1. Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken and patient responses inn appropriate medical record according to facility policy and procedure. 2. Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team. 3. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician and within the scope of the nurse practice act. 4. Provides specialized training, such as Intravenous Therapy according to facility policy and procedure. 5. Delegates or assigns aspects of patient care to healthcare team members commensurate with their validated co competency to perform the task. 6. Assists providers with various procedures and treatments or delegates/assigns to other healthcare team members as appropriate. 7. Assists in orientation of new staff and serves as a resource person and professional role model. 8. Professionally responsible for understanding current nursing standards, how to implement and document in assigned facility in order to maintain quality standards. 9. Responsible for the clinical supervision LPN/LVNs and non-licensed assisting personnel. 10. Performs other functions as required by facility leadership. 11. Willingly "floats" to other areas of the facility in which the nurse can provide safe patient care at the facility manager's request. 12. Communicates routinely with unit manager to request feedback and coaching to ensure RN meets and/or exceeds role expectations and supports Plexsum Staffing Solutions, Inc. client facility philosophy and programs. Knowledge Requires detailed knowledge of nursing practice and care delivery in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is to be done. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the unit-specific treatment pathways/goals and incorporate them into the patient plan of care. Demonstrates ability to make decisions that are varied but usually confined to situations, which are familiar and where there are several defined alternatives.

Understands how work of team is accomplished and works with independence and operates within established policies, procedures and schedules. Skills and Requirements
  • Requires BLS/CPR, and where appropriate ACLS/PALS, NIHSS, other specialty certifications required for job. Successful completion of Plexsum skills assessment and unit-based clinical competency. Education/Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with at least one year of continuous work experience in a healthcare setting in the past 3 years. Certificates and Licenses
  • Current/Active Registered Nurse License in PA (or appropriate state). Computer Skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
). Basic Internet navigation skills and documents required electronic medical record experience. Must be able to speak and hear well enough to understand and give directions to others. Must have fine motor skills for legible and accurate writing and keystroking for charting, scheduling, daily correspondence, and reports; and for handling of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. Must have ability to lift (50 lbs.) and transfer patients greater than (50 lbs.) according to facility policy and procedure using approved patient transfer, slide techniques and/or approved facility equipment.
