A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Job Role/Responsibilities:
The Intake Counselor, under the supervision of the Director of Admissions, interviews and assesses potential patients and inquiry callers. The Intake Counselor works with the Business Office regarding patient financial data, as well as with the UR Department for the certification of patients admitted. Also initiates the referral and admission process by determining appropriate level of care needs in conjunction with the physician/provider. The Intake Counselor is also responsible for initiating and maintaining communication with referral sources. Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or a other related Human Services field require - OR -
Registered Nurse, Experience:
2-3 years in the area of substance abuse/psychiatric treatment programs, including experience in intake/admissions and managed care preferred.
License:
License is not required unless candidate is a nurse, then active nursing license in the State of Pennsylvania is required.
