Job Description

Provides professional nursing care to patients/ISB residents according to established procedures, coordinates health care planning with other disciplines. Directs supports staff as appropriate in provision of patient care. Maintains awareness of staff workload; supervises certified nurse assistance.
Continuous Professional Development:
Seeking educational opportunities that will expand the level of knowledge and expertise related to the nursing field. Participate in hospital in-services and staff meetings to keep current with any new policies, procedures, and equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
Develops implements, evaluates, and manages the care and education of the patient/ISB resident. Assesses triages and intervenes for emergency room patients and traumas Performs outpatient treatments as directed by the provider Monitors, maintains, and records accurate patient/ISB resident care documentation Ability to organize, prioritize and delegate patient/ISB resident care appropriately Must be able to recognize, respond and intervene with any change of condition Acts as facilitator/preceptor to less experienced staff. Participates in Direct Patient/ISB Resident care - Assess patient/ISB residents on a daily basis and determine appropriate nursing care plan and update as needed Must be able to adequately do a medical screening exam on every patient that comes into the emergency room and report assessment to the provider. Administer medications and documents in patient/ISB resident medical record Follows policy regarding narcotic administration, usage, and waste. Maintains patient/ISB resident confidentiality and privacy Maintains accurate, clear documentation and communication of patient/ISB resident information Reports on all critical labs and all changes in patient/ISB resident condition. Maintains departmental policy and procedure and participates in quality improvement programs Adherence to safety, environmental and infection control standards Responsible for floor patients, ER patients, outpatients and ISB residents.

Demonstrates competent and critical thinking skills. Recognizes, reports, and intervenes when complications dictate action to safeguard the patients assigned to their care.

Must be friendly and helpful yet exhibit professionalism as this is a patient care department and everyone is our customer.

Experience:
Experience:
Prefer a minimum of one year of clinical experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
Education:
Bachelor's degree desirable, but associate degree required from an accredited school of nursing.
License:
Current Kansas Registered Nurse License Mandatory Certifications:
CPR, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
If new hire certifications are not complete or current, they will be completed within the first 6 months of hire or at the earliest opportunity (first class available).
