GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The housekeeper works under the direction of the Maintenance director to meet the sanitation and cleanliness needs of the community. The housekeeper follows the philosophies and values of Tockwotton on the Waterfront and promotes a person-centered, resident-directed culture. This position may include some evening and weekend hours.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITIION

Thoroughly clean and disinfect resident rooms as assigned. Thoroughly clean and disinfect corridors and common areas as assigned Maintains standards of cleanliness and infection control practices throughout the community that meets all applicable state and federal regulations. Performs laundry duties as needed. Maintains a safe and secure work area and reports any concerns of problems regarding their work area/cleaning products/equipment to their direct supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Be comfortable in relating to the elderly and have an understanding and insight into their needs. Personal characteristics must include patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as the willingness to understand and meet the needs of challenging residents. This position is responsible for nursing functions within the household including passing medications, monitoring medication aides, observing residents' condition and communicating them to the physician or nurse practitioner as needed. The household nurse works closely with the Nurse Leaders to ensure regulatory compliance, nurture a person-centered and resident-directed culture. Household nurses are teachers and role-models of professional nursing practices to household staff and resident advocates for quality clinical care. They provide each resident with routine daily nursing care, professional nursing assessments, evaluations and other desired services in accordance with their assessment, choices and plan of care. Required Skills & Qualifications Must be a licensed registered nurse or practical nurse 3-5 years of experience in a skilled healthcare facility or retirement facility preferred but not required Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills Basic computer skills required Must be able to meet minimum physical requirements as required by community policies Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Must enjoy working with the senior community
