Job Description

Purpose Statement:
We are seeking a committed and compassionate Health and Safety Administrator to join our vibrant school community at West Bay Christian Academy. This pivotal role supports the well-being of our students and staff by ensuring a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment, both physically and emotionally. Rooted in Christian values, the Health and Safety Administrator will care for student health needs, oversee campus safety protocols, and coordinate essential maintenance services with diligence and integrity. Full-time Responsibilities and Duties:
General:
Attend staff meetings and participate in school-wide events and activities Exemplify professionalism in behavior and performance Invest in professional growth and development Participate in weekly Management Leadership Team meetings
Student Health and Safety Services:
Assess and treat students for minor injuries and illnesses according to first aid and school health procedures Manage and provide health office services, including the distribution of prescribed medications to assigned students Maintain a dated nurse's log documenting student visits and reasons Notify parents of student accidents or illnesses and arrange emergency care when needed Maintain student health records, including allergy, asthma, and immunization documentation Schedule and coordinate school health screenings (vision, dental, scoliosis) in collaboration with the North Kingstown School Department and school calendar Track CPR certification for staff and coordinate re-training every two years Maintain a complete and current inventory of health office supplies and order additional supplies in coordination with the business manager Oversee afternoon bus duty to ensure safe student transitions
Campus Safety and Emergency Preparedness:
Schedule and conduct all state mandated emergency drills with consideration of the school-wide calendar Manage and schedule safety inspections and testing (fire alarms, radon, lead water testing, boiler inspections) Review and update the schools Crisis Response Plan annually with the assistance of the Head of School and local law enforcement Handle pest and insect control and coordinate with appropriate service providers Be available to support emergency coverage for the front desk or a classroom as needed Maintain background check records for school volunteers and chaperones Facilities Maintenance and Coordination Work with the Head of School to determine necessary school repairs and maintenance projects Manage summertime repair and improvement projects, including floor cleaning, painting, and classroom updates Maintain regular communication and scheduling with HVAC, landscaping, snow removal, and cleaning vendors Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing water and air filters and refilling cleaning supplies Monitor and replenish bathroom supplies (paper goods, soap, trash bags) and conduct spot checks for cleanliness
Minimum Requirements:
Committed Christian, aligned with the Academys Mission and Statement of Faith, actively attending a local church Bachelor's Degree Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Rhode Island Current certification in First Aid, CPR and AED Physical ability to lift 100 or more pounds Possesses the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and other outside agencies or local school districts
Preferred Credentials and Experience:
Experience working in a school or childcare setting Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to urgent situations effectively Familiarity with student health documentation and procedures (e.g., allergy and asthma plans, medication logs) Experience coordinating building maintenance and working with outside vendors or contractors Success in this role will be evidenced when: The school environment is consistently clean, safe, and well-maintained, with timely completion of routine and scheduled maintenance tasks Student health needs are addressed promptly and compassionately, with accurate documentation and effective communication with families and staff Health records, allergy/asthma plans, and medication logs are current, confidential, and compliant with school and state requirements Communication with families, staff, and external providers is clear, timely, and supportive of student well-being and school safety Emergency drills and safety inspections are conducted regularly, documented thoroughly, and integrated smoothly into the school schedule Qualified applicants, please email a cover letter and resume to Renee Bell at HR@wbcacademy.org.
