Overview
PURPOSE STATEMENT
A transition to practice role for new graduate registered nurses who will be eligible to obtain their RN licensewithin 90 days of beginning employment. Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Under the direction, supervision, consultation and collaboration of the charge nurse or their designee,the graduate nurse has temporary authorization to practice nursing, as stipulated by the Nurse PracticeAct within the state where the facility is located.
  • Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice, as defined withinthe state Nurse Practice Act regulations, policies, procedures and protocols, as well as facility andcorporate policies and procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Recent graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required.
  • Required to register for RN licensure exam (if an individual fails to pass first exam, job title changed andpay reduced).
  • One or more years' experience as a nursing assistant preferred.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Temporary nursing permit issued to graduates of professional nursing program who have not yet takenstate RN licensing exam (for the first time), providing temporary authorization to practice as a graduatenurse under the supervision of a current licensed registered nurse within the state where the facilityprovides services, and within the standards and scope of practice as defined by the state Nurse PracticeAct.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered byfacility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
