Duties Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories. Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols, including IV infusions and injection administration. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient care activities thoroughly and efficiently. Conduct specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile processing when necessary. Manage acute pain and critical conditions by implementing appropriate interventions within trauma centers or ICU settings. Coordinate discharge planning and case management to ensure seamless transitions of care across hospital, outpatient, or home care environments. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in emergency medicine, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology, geriatrics, behavioral health, and infectious disease care to optimize patient outcomes. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and adhere to infection control protocols to safeguard patient confidentiality and safety. Provide education and health coaching tailored to individual needs, including senior care, memory care, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Support triage activities in urgent care or outpatient clinics by prioritizing patient needs based on clinical assessment. Skills Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP), neonates on ventilators or infants requiring neonatal ventilator support. Skilled in advanced nursing procedures such as venipuncture (phlebotomy), aseptic technique, ventilator management, ostomy care, and spinal tap procedures. Critical care experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers with expertise in trauma medicine and emergency response procedures. Ability to perform laboratory specimen collection/processing and interpret ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate documentation and billing purposes. Familiarity with hospital standards like NCQA standards for quality assurance and compliance. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or those requiring specialized memory or dementia care programs. Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases; experience in hospice & palliative medicine is a plus. Capable of managing complex cases involving pain management experience or chronic disease management such as dialysis or long-term care settings.
