Job Description

The LDCT Mobile Unit Program & Smoking Cessation Nurse is responsible for coordinating and managing the Low-Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening Mobile Unit Program and providing evidence-based smoking cessation counseling and treatment. This role ensures compliance with screening guidelines, supports patients through shared decision-making, tracks outcomes, and delivers individualized tobacco cessation interventions. Additionally, the Nurse will partner and support the Cancer Institute's Thoracic Oncology Navigation program to ensure patients ultimately diagnosed with lung cancer are properly identified, educated, and navigated through our healthcare system as they begin their cancer care journey. The nurse serves as a clinical liaison between patients, radiology, pulmonology, primary care providers, and oncology services. Key Responsibilities LDCT Program Coordination Identify and assess patient eligibility according to current lung cancer screening guidelines (USPSTF, CMS, NCCN). Conduct shared decision-making visits. Educate patients about benefits, risks, and limitations of LDCT screening. Obtain informed consent as required. Order and coordinate LDCT screenings per protocol. Track screening results and ensure timely follow-up of abnormal findings. Coordinate referrals to pulmonology, thoracic surgery, oncology, or other specialists. Qualifications Requirements Bachelor's degree (BSN) or ASN Current Registered Nurse licensure in Tennessee BLS Certified Required Preferred Certifications Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) (if applicable)
