Job Description
HCA Healthcare is seeking a part-time Radiation Oncology Nurse to provide specialized, compassionate care to patients undergoing radiation therapy. In this role, you will assess and educate patients, coordinate treatments, manage symptoms, and collaborate closely with radiation oncologists and a multidisciplinary team. You will support safe, evidence-based practice, maintain accurate documentation, and reinforce patient-centered care. Responsibilities Provide compassionate nursing care to radiation oncology patients before, during, and after treatments Coordinate and prepare patients for radiation therapy, including education on procedures and side effects Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and assess treatment responses Collaborate with radiation oncologists, therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record Educate patients and families on symptom management, follow-up care, and available support resources Maintain infection control, safety protocols, and equipment checks within the radiation oncology unit Participate in quality improvement, staff education, and professional development activities Required Skills Radiation oncology nursing Patient assessment Oncology symptom management Patient and family education Care coordination Electronic medical records (EMR) IV therapy and medication administration Radiation safety and precautions Oncology triage and escalation Infection control
