Job Description
TriStar Health is seeking a Same Day Surgery Nurse to deliver compassionate, high-quality pre- and post-operative care in our fast-paced outpatient surgical unit. In this role, you will perform pre-op assessments, start IVs, administer medications, monitor patients in recovery, and provide thorough discharge teaching. You'll collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and allied staff to ensure safe, efficient patient flow and excellent outcomes. Responsibilities Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care for Same Day Surgery patients Conduct pre-op assessments, obtain histories, and verify consents Administer medications, start and manage IVs, and monitor patient status Support anesthesia and surgical teams with safe patient throughput Monitor recovery, manage pain and nausea, and identify complications Educate patients and families on procedures, discharge, and home care Document care accurately in the EHR and follow clinical protocols Uphold infection control, safety, and quality standards Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes Participate in ongoing professional development and unit initiatives Required Skills Pre-operative assessment Post-anesthesia recovery (PACU) care IV insertion and management Medication administration Patient and family education Electronic Health Records (EHR) documentation Vital signs and hemodynamic monitoring Pain assessment and management Infection control and aseptic technique Interdisciplinary care coordination
