Lauderdale County Schools Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) School Nurse provides comprehensive, safe, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate school health services to children from six weeks of age through graduation. The RN promotes student health, safety, attendance, and academic success through nursing assessment, care, intervention, health education, care coordination, and emergency response. The RN practices within the Tennessee Nurse Practice Act, applicable laws, district policies, and authorized healthcare provider orders. The RN may perform nursing assessments and develop, initiate, implement, and evaluate Individualized Healthcare Plans within the RN scope of practice. Although professionally accountable for nursing judgment and care, the RN remains under the administrative direction and supervision of the School Health Supervisor or Director of Coordinated School Health.
