Primary Purpose:
A substitute school nurse (RN/LVN) assists in providing the fullest possible educational opportunity for students by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the schools.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's RN, Associate RN, or LVN TX Nurse Certification Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
Certification Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with children Ability to communicate effectively
Experience:
Some experience working with children is preferable.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide critical care services to medically fragile students as assigned Administer medications from physicians' orders Maintain medication records and reports Communicate with medical, nursing, and district personnel Manage and provide health room services, including first aid and CPR, according to established procedures Provide guidance and counseling in the area of health to students, staff, and parents according to professional standards Completes other duties as assigned.

Copier, personal computer, and audiovisual equipment.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Stooping, bending, lifting, sitting and/or standing for long periods of time and walk long distances within school campus and grounds.
