Role:
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (RN ER) plays a critical role in delivering immediate and comprehensive care to patients experiencing acute medical conditions or trauma. This position requires rapid assessment, prioritization, and intervention to stabilize patients and support physicians in emergency procedures. The RN ER collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal outcomes in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Additionally, the nurse provides compassionate communication and education to patients and their families during times of crisis. Ultimately, the RN ER contributes to saving lives and improving patient recovery through expert clinical skills and decisive action.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas. Completion of an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Experience working in an emergency room or acute care setting i Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Previous experience in a high-volume emergency department. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Responsibilities:
Perform rapid and accurate patient assessments upon arrival to the emergency department. Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians. Monitor patient vital signs and condition continuously, recognizing and responding to changes promptly. Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to implement emergency care plans. Document all patient care activities thoroughly and maintain accurate medical records. Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients and their families regarding treatment and care plans. Assist with emergency procedures such as intubation, wound care, and cardiac resuscitation. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain clinical competencies.
Skills:
The RN ER utilizes strong clinical assessment skills daily to quickly identify patient needs and prioritize care effectively. Critical thinking and decision-making abilities are essential for managing complex and rapidly changing patient conditions. Communication skills are employed to coordinate with healthcare teams and provide clear explanations to patients and families under stress. Technical proficiency with medical equipment and electronic health records supports accurate treatment and documentation. Additionally, emotional resilience and adaptability enable the nurse to maintain composure and deliver high-quality care in a demanding emergency environment. This is a night position. 6:45 PM- 6:45 AM. This is a .90 FTE position. May work weekends/holidays. Position is eligible for overtime pay, if applicable.
