Key Responsibilities :

Patient Assessment and Care :

Perform thorough nursing assessments for inmates, including vital signs, health history, and identifying urgent medical needs. Develop individualized care plans for patients with chronic illnesses or acute medical conditions.

Administer Medications and Treatments :

Administer medications, wound care, and other treatments as prescribed by physicians. Monitor patient responses to treatments and adjust care plans as necessary.

Triage and Emergency Care :

Provide triage services in emergency situations, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions for life-threatening conditions. Collaboration with

Healthcare Team :

Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare staff to provide optimal care. Communicate effectively with correctional officers and facility administrators to ensure the safety and well-being of all parties.

Health Education :

Educate inmates on general health practices, chronic disease management, and preventive care, ensuring they understand their health conditions and treatment options.

Documentation :

Maintain accurate and timely medical records, documenting all patient interactions, treatments, and responses to care. Ensure all documentation complies with Harris Health and correctional facility guidelines.

Compliance and Safety :

Adhere to all Harris Health and correctional facility policies, as well as state and federal regulations regarding patient care in a correctional environment. Ensure safety protocols are followed to protect both healthcare workers and inmates.
