Job Description
Behavioral Hospital Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for the 12-hour morning shift. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, high-quality patient care across diverse clinical settings, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal health outcomes. Your expertise will support a wide range of medical needs, from acute care to long-term management, in a fast-paced environment that values teamwork and innovation. Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care by performing patient assessments, vital sign monitoring, and physical examinations with precision and compassion. Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and medication management, following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols. Coordinate diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory tests, radiology procedures (including CT scans), and specimen collection/processing to support accurate diagnosis and treatment plans. Manage complex patient needs by providing acute pain management, wound suturing, ostomy care, and ventilator support as required. Document all patient interactions thoroughly using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities. Respond promptly to emergencies such as trauma incidents or acute medical crises in a Level I or Level II trauma center setting, utilizing advanced skills in airway management and critical care procedures. Skills Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation. Experience in various clinical environments including hospital medicine, ICU/CCU/PCU units, emergency room (ER), outpatient clinics, and long-term care facilities like nursing homes or assisted living communities. Skilled in performing IV insertions, phlebotomy, catheterization (urinary and vascular), suturing, and sterile processing techniques. Strong understanding of infection control practices and HIPAA compliance to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations including children (pediatrics), elderly (geriatrics), individuals with disabilities or dementia (Alzheimer's/dementia care), and those requiring hospice & palliative medicine services. Critical thinking skills for triage assessment, acute pain management, trauma medicine, occupational health cases, and infectious disease care. Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/10) for accurate documentation of diagnoses across inpatient and outpatient settings. Join us in delivering exceptional nursing care that transforms lives!
