Principal and Supervisor of Accountability and Student Wellness General Definition of Work:
Manage and coordinate the assigned school's health services program based on requirements established by school division policies, and by local, state and national regulations and statues. Administers medication and first aid, performs required screenings, and maintains medical records and files, and related work as assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the school principal and student accountability coordinator.
Essential Functions:
Administer daily and as needed medications and nursing care procedures prescribed by the student's physician. Provide nursing care and physical screening to students; assess students and implement first aid measures for students as needed. Establish and update health and immunization records. Implement and record required screening programs; notify parents when further medical evaluation is indicated. Prepare and maintain student clinic records and prepare required local and state reports. Initiate emergency procedures for student and staff as needed. Documents all medical and emergency situations; reports major health concerns to medical personnel and parents Develop Individual Health Care Plans and 504 plans for students as needed Provide health education and anticipatory counseling Record student attendance, tardiness and early dismissal data; Assists with general office assistance tasks such as answering telephones, etc. Attend annual training provided by school division Perform related work as required Requires standing, sitting repetitious hand and body movement, simple grasping, pushing, pulling fine motor and gross motor skills, bending lifting, squatting, kneeling, climbing and reaching. Ability to lift student as required and has the stamina to stand all day. Requires speaking, hearing and vision for the communication and the exchanging of ideas. Requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; using measuring devices and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment. Knowledge of first aid and CPR; ability to administer medications; ability to learn instructional materials readily and to adhere to prescribed routines; ability to perform routine clerical and record keeping tasks; ability to operate standard office equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to maintain accurate medical records and files; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, parents and students. A high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate is required.
License/Certification:
Possession of CPR and first aid certification. Possession of EMT-B certification. LPN certification preferred.
