Job Description
TriCities Hospital in Hopewell, VA seeks an Emergency Room Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced ED. The ER RN triages and stabilizes patients of all ages, administers medications, performs assessments, coordinates diagnostics, and assists with procedures. Collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, this role ensures safe, evidence-based care, accurate documentation, and patient/family education. RNs participate in continuous learning, quality and safety initiatives, and support our diverse community while upholding our culture of respect, teamwork, and clinical excellence. Responsibilities Perform rapid triage, assessment, and stabilization of emergency patients across the lifespan Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per provider orders and protocols Monitor patient status, interpret clinical data, and respond to changes in condition Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, evidence-based care Operate and troubleshoot common ED equipment and ensure accurate EHR documentation Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment, and discharge instructions Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and continuing education Uphold hospital policies, infection control standards, and a culture of respect and compassion Required Skills Emergency triage and prioritization Patient assessment and vital sign interpretation IV insertion and medication administration Cardiac and respiratory monitoring Wound care and splinting Operation of ED equipment (monitors, pumps, defibrillators) Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation Care coordination and multidisciplinary communication ACLS and PALS emergency interventions Infection control and patient safety practices
