We are seeking an experienced RN Lead Nurse to oversee the assigned nursing team and support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in a federally qualified community health center (FQHC). The Lead Nurse will provide clinical guidance, mentor nursing staff, coordinate team-based care, and assist providers with patient care, procedures, referrals, triage, medication administration, IV infusions, specimen collection, and EHR documentation. The role also includes staff scheduling, performance evaluations, training, interviewing, emergency preparedness, infection control, and quality improvement activities. The Lead Nurse serves as a clinical resource and supports the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in maintaining efficient and effective nursing operations.
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor the nursing team to ensure quality patient care. Conduct patient assessments, vital signs, screenings, and triage. Assist providers with procedures, medications, injections, and IV therapy. Collect specimens and perform in-house laboratory testing. Maintain accurate EHR documentation and coordinate referrals. Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and self-care. Manage staff schedules, orientations, evaluations, and training. Monitor clinical supplies, vaccines, and infection-control practices. Participate in quality improvement, emergency preparedness, and staff meetings. Support the CNO with nursing operations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
Current Virginia RN or LPN license. Graduate of an accredited nursing program. 3-5 years of nursing experience; supervisory experience preferred. Strong clinical, triage, patient care, and EHR skills. Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building abilities. Knowledge of infection control and OSHA standards. Ability to work a flexible schedule in a fast-paced clinical setting. #HC2026
