Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at Winchester Gastroenterology Purcellville Endoscopy by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their support system by collaborating with the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health and the delivery of compassionate quality care.QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, ADN acceptable, BSN preferred State Licensure as Registered Nurse CurrentBLS, ACLS
Clinical experience in the surgical or ambulatory setting, endoscopy experience preferred Experienced with electronic health records, preferred gGastro, EPIC Ability to perform basic nursing skills and prioritize care appropriately Ensures completion of nursing interventions, physician orders and other related therapies Ability to communicate effectively with solid written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated leadership abilities with strong clinical assessment, problem solving and critical thinking skills Ability to manage diverse personalities, develop and maintain relationships with staff, and patients and patient support persons Presents a professional positive image and attitude regarding the facility Ability to facilitate the delivery of timely quality patient care in the procedural setting Ability to handle stressful work environment; comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with normal activities. Participates in programs such as Infection Prevention, Hazard Mitigation, and Quality Assurance. Demonstrates commitment to continued professional growth and developmentDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the delivery of nursing care in the endoscopic settings of pre, intra and post procedural care, proper processing of endoscopic equipment, proper handling of medications, hazardous materials and materials management Instructs patient pre-procedure on the pre, intra and post procedural care routine and discharge instructions and reviews patient teachings with responsible party post-procedure Reviews patient's current medications, dosage, and dosage schedule and allergies and records in the medical record. Performs routine nursing care for multiple patients in a timely manner such as clinical assessment, starting IVs, taking vitals, EHR charting etc. Operates various equipment including cardiac monitors, vital machines, point of care testing etc. Administers medications as prescribed by the physicians using the 5 "Rights"(Right patient, Right Medication, Right Dose, Right Route and Right Time) Maintains security of narcotics and their accurate counts daily, notifies DON of any discrepancies Understands the concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques Assists Physician during endoscopic procedures, specimen collection, labeling and transport, room turn around, assembling required equipment and supplies Performs high level disinfection of endoscopic equipment and scopes Serves as a clinical resource by providing clinical nursing oversight and guidance to LPNs, Endoscopic Technicians during all aspects of patient care, ensuring adherence to best practices, quality standards and patient safety protocols Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Restocks clinical area with medications, supplies, equipment, and accessories Ensure all required daily checks are completed Assists with orientation of new clinical staff Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations Adheres to and supports WGA mission, vision, values, goals, philosophy, objectives, policies, and proceduresPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
The role of Registered Nurse requires constant standing, frequently walking, bending and stooping. Ability to lift/push/pull 100lbs with proper body mechanics and team supportEXPOSURE TO HAZARDS
High exposure to blood and blood byproducts, body fluids, medical gases, chemicals and needle puncture wounds.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
