Aug 26, 2026 Job Description Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union is seeking substitute School Nurses for the 2026-2027 school year. Remuneration for Nursing Substitutes is higher than that of other per diem substitute work. The Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union pays substitute RNs $255 per full day (8 hours) and $200 per full day for LPNs. The ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
  • Current, valid Vermont RN license
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • Several years of clinical experience that includes pediatric and community/family-centered nursing Areas of student health care responsibilities include:
  • Assessment
  • First aid
  • Health screening
  • Medication administration
  • Assist in communicable disease control
  • Immunization assessment
  • Attend student meetings as necessary
  • Assessment and care of students with special needs Additional areas of responsibilities include:
  • Compilation of statistical information
  • Maintenance of health and medication records/logs
  • Accident reporting
  • Member of the Wellness and Safety Teams
  • Student/staff emergency card maintenance
  • Preparation of required state reports
  • Providing staff and parents with information on school health policies, and other pertinent health resource information
  • Providing interpretation of health information to staff and parents
  • Promoting a healthy school environment Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union (OSSU) serves school age children in the towns of Craftsbury, Greensboro, Hardwick, Stannard, Wolcott and Woodbury.
