Menig Nursing Home at Gifford Retirement Community, named for the late Howard and Gladys Menig of Braintree, opened in 1998. This 30-bed nursing home located in the heart of beautiful Vermont is an outstanding facility and workplace and offers the highest standard in resident care. Often featured in local media for its creative activities and many accomplishments, Menig has been named one of the 39 top nursing homes in the nation in 2012 by the U.S. News and World Report for its consistent five-star ratings on Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services measures. The nursing home has also received past "Best Nursing Homes" rankings from U.S. News and World Report, "Excellence in Action" awards for resident and family satisfaction, and state awards for both quality of care and workplace excellence. The Licensed Nursing Assistant will be responsible for assisting in coordination of nursing care for patients, serving as a patient advocate, assisting in providing patient and family teaching in a multidisciplinary health care setting. S/he will provide direct care to assigned patients in conformance with hospital policies, professional standards, physician orders, and approved plan of care. The nursing process will be utilized in the provision of patient care. S/he will function within limits of Vermont Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses, guided by Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice, hospital and nursing department policies and procedures.
