Summary:

The Registered Nurse's primary responsibility is to provide oversight and manage the physical health needs of True North clients. The nurse coordinates the medical care, including management and dispensation of medications for all clients. This involves close communication with parents, doctors, pharmacies, and other members of the True North team to ensure that medications are received at the facility and dispensed properly. It also includes daily and weekly supervision of client overall health. The Nurse works closely with the Medical Director, clinicians, Admissions Department, and office and program staff to coordinate these efforts. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Coordinate with the Admissions Department to ensure that parents and/or clients have appropriate information related to medications and that they understand how medications are managed during a client's stay Attend all enrollments to ensure medications are documented, inventoried, packed, and given to the direct care staff (guides) Communicate with parents, doctors, and pharmacies to ensure that medications are received onsite in a timely manner, that prescriptions are up-to-date, and that medications can be administered properly Collaborate with clinicians, office staff, and program staff to ensure that medications are properly administered and tracked Interface with True North Medical Director on all questions and concerns related to medication and medical needs of the clients Coordinate medical care for clients with other program staff and clinicians. Transport clients to and from medical appointments Conduct assessment of clients' health profiles, including but not limited to nutrition, exercise, general health and wellness, sleep hygiene, and self-care practices Provide support and counseling on health and wellness topics to individual clients in collaboration with their clinical team Teach weekly wellness and health based classes to the client community Document medication dispensation and medical care Support the insurance billing process Attend client graduations/departures to ensure: All medications are packed and accounted for and are leaving with the client/family All pertinent medical needs and information are communicated to the family Assist and support clinicians with clinical paperwork and documentation Assist in the creation of any resources to better advance the position and program

Education and Licensing Requirements:

Minimum of 21 years of age. A four-year college degree is required. A degree or certification in a medical field is preferred but not required. A nursing license (RN or LPN) is required.
