Job Description

Olympic Health and Recovery Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate ARNP or Psychiatric ARNP to join our team in a field based position providing low barrier, trauma informed, and just medical and psychiatric care to individuals experiencing homelessness. The Homeless Outreach Stabilization and Transition (HOST) Program Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner is part of a multidisciplinary team and functions entirely in the community; meeting people where they are, including sanctioned and unsanctioned encampments, wooded areas, shelters, vehicles, and public spaces. The ARNP must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and across varied terrain while delivering high quality, equitable care. The ARNP will provide psychiatric care, physical health support, and medication assisted treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine/Suboxone and methadone coordination, to individuals with complex behavioral health and substance use needs. This position plays a critical role in stabilizing clients, reducing barriers to care, and promoting engagement with ongoing services. This role works closely with HOST behavioral health staff, medical staff, and community partners to ensure continuity of care and holistic support.
Salary Range:
$79,350.50 - $82,923.50 annually based on education, experience, and parity within the organization.
Schedule:
Part Time 0.5 FTE Position, Two 10 hour shifts with days selected between Monday-Friday. This position is classified as FLSA Exempt, Not Overtime Eligible. This position reports to the Quality Assurance and Clinical Standards Manager First review of applications will take place Monday, June 1st, 2026 Core Responsibilities Patient Assessment and Diagnosis Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations in community based settings. Assess for mental health and substance use disorders and formulate diagnoses. Perform mental health histories and assessments. Treatment Planning Develop individualized, person centered treatment plans aligned with harm reduction principles. Create stabilization plans with an emphasis on accessibility and continuity. Coordinate with HOST behavioral health staff to ensure follow through and integrated support. Medication Management Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications and medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD). Evaluate side effects and manage medication adherence. Consult with medical providers on therapeutic drug regimens and treatment strategies. Medical Services Provide wound and foot care. Conduct STI, HIV, and Hepatitis C testing. Offer birth control services. Distribute naloxone and provide overdose prevention training. Administer vaccinations. Manage acute and chronic medical conditions. Outreach and Community Connection Deliver all services in person, in the field, including encampments, shelters, and remote outdoor locations. Navigate uneven terrain and varied environmental conditions. Engage individuals who may be disconnected from traditional health systems. Promote and encourage entry into behavioral health and substance use treatment. Collaboration Work closely with therapists, psychiatrists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals. Provide consultation with team members regarding mental health and physical health needs. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and trainings. Crisis Intervention Provide immediate support and intervention in urgent or crisis situations. Use de escalation and trauma informed techniques during outreach. Documentation and Administration Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient visits, progress, and treatment plans. Adhere to state and federal regulations, professional standards, and agency policies. Document in accordance with licensing and third party requirements. Participate in quality improvement initiatives using evidence based practices. Medical Department Support Provide backup coverage to the medical department as needed. Support other programs to ensure continuity and accessibility of care across the organization. Benefits

Education and Experience:
Current Washington State ARNP license with prescriptive authority. Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) preferred. Completion or willingness to complete the Waiver Qualifying Treatment of Opioid Disorder Training. DEA registration to prescribe buprenorphine (or willingness to obtain). Experience in behavioral health, addiction medicine, or community-based care. Must be able to pass required background checks as required by OHRS contractual requirements. Current Washington State Driver's License, proof of insurance, and satisfactory drivers record required. Commitment to racial equity, trauma informed care, and harm reduction approaches. Ability to work independently in diverse and non-traditional settings.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to provide medical and psychiatric care in high stress, high demand environments while communicating clearly and effectively. Competency in treating co-occurring medical and behavioral health concerns. Ability to use EHR systems and mobile technology for field documentation. Ability to provide clear documentation of assessments and dispositions. Ability to utilize principles of crisis intervention and de-escalation while maintaining strong customer service skills and empathy. Ability to remain calm and professional during escalated situations. Ability to navigate challenging terrain and work in adverse weather conditions. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and respectfully manage differences, opposing perspectives, opinions, and interests. Ability to remain flexible and adaptable to change. Adaptability and creativity when working with individuals with complex needs. Promote and champion the values of partnership, teamwork, compassion, and integrity in all dealings within and outside of OHRS. Ability to utilize principles of motivational interviewing and additional evidence-based practices. Ability to work as a team and with assigned partners. Actively develop familiarity with systems and community resources.

Working Conditions:
All work is conducted in the field, including encampments, wooded areas, vehicles, shelters, and public spaces. Exposure to all weather conditions and varied terrain. Regular use of computers, phones, and other communication devices required. Computer usage may be in the office or in the community locations. This position will expose you to conversations about suicide, behavioral health issues, and staff responding to crisis situations. Often performed under physically demanding, stressful, and environmentally diverse conditions, and requires the ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and demands. Regular, on-site, predictable attendance required. Regular use of fleet vehicles required for mobile outreach. Transportation of clients may be provided in a fleet vehicle. Moderate physical exertion is required. May be required to sit, stand, squat, walk short to moderate distances on uneven terrain, walk up and down stairs, standing for extended periods, and carrying medical or outreach supplies up to 25 lbs.
