Job Description
Overview School Health Consultants, Inc. provides school nursing services in Central Kitsap, North Kitsap, and Port Townsend school districts. We currently have openings in Central Kitsap and North Kitsap for the 26-27 school year. Positions range from two days per week to full time, with summers and holidays off. The school nurse plays a pivotal role in supporting students and staff in various aspects of student-related health. Experience in school nursing, pediatrics, emergency care, education, and/or mental health is beneficial. Responsibilities Assess the health and wellbeing of students, providing tailored support strategies Craft and monitor individual health plans/emergency care plans for students with health-related needs Delegate and supervise designated nursing tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel Conduct staff trainings Monitor immunization compliance Advise on infectious disease management Collaborate with parents, educators, and other professionals to create comprehensive support and response plans Oversee vision and hearing screenings Stay updated on best practices in school related health services Requirements RN and BLS required Nursing experience required; not open to new graduates Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred School nurse experience preferred ESA certification or willingness to become ESA certified preferred Understanding of childhood development principles Familiarity with asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, seizures, and g-tube feedings Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written The ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and educators Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds, walk 500 feet to various campus locations, use stairs, and perform common nursing care
