Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Operating Room Registered Nurse, where your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes during surgical procedures. In this vital role, you will provide specialized nursing care in the operating room environment, ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of patients undergoing a variety of surgical interventions. Your proactive approach and clinical skills will support a fast-paced, collaborative setting dedicated to excellence in surgical care. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all sterile supplies, equipment, and instruments are ready for scheduled surgeries. Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during procedures by maintaining aseptic technique and managing surgical instruments. Monitor patient vital signs and physiological status continuously throughout surgery, responding swiftly to any changes or emergencies. Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following strict protocols and ensuring accurate documentation. Support patient assessment before, during, and after surgery, including physical examinations and evaluating pain levels. Maintain detailed medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, adhering to HIPAA regulations. Educate patients and their families about perioperative care instructions and post-surgical recovery processes. Qualifications Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice. Proven operating room (OR) experience with proficiency in aseptic technique and sterile processing. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care procedures. Experience working with advanced medical equipment such as ventilators, surgical lasers, or imaging modalities like CT or sonography is preferred. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic or Cerner; additional experience with eClinicalWorks is a plus. Demonstrated ability to perform IV insertions, venipuncture, suturing, catheter care, and specimen collection efficiently. Critical care experience in settings such as ICU or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable. Excellent patient assessment skills combined with the ability to respond effectively during emergencies like trauma medicine or acute pain management situations.
