Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the private practice urology clinic provides licensed professional nursing care through the application of the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The RN delivers direct patient care, performs clinical triage, assists with urologic procedures, administers medications and treatments, and coordinates care across the outpatient urology continuum. This role is governed by the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act and is accountable for all nursing care and delegated tasks. This is a non-leadership; non-supervisory position focused on direct patient care and clinical decision-making.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Nursing Assessment and Triage Perform comprehensive and focused urologic assessments in clinic, by phone, and through patient portals Assess symptoms, including urinary retention, hematuria, dysuria, pain, infection, and post-operative concerns, and initiate treatment based on clinic protocols, standing orders, and/or provider direction Conduct clinical triage and determine urgency of care Identify red flags and escalate care appropriately to providers or emergency services Care Planning and Coordination Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans Coordinate diagnostic testing, imaging, referrals, and follow-up appointments Support pre-operative and post-operative care coordination for urologic procedures and surgeries Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinic staff to ensure continuity of care Responsible for comprehensive medication review, reconciliation, and refill processing in accordance with provider orders and clinical protocols Clinical Interventions and Treatments Administer medications and treatments as ordered, including injections and bladder instillations Perform urinary catheter insertion, removal, irrigation, and management Assess and manage catheter-related complications Perform Urodynamic testing Review labs and imaging results per protocol. Communicate results and appropriate clinical context. Initiate next steps under standing orders/provider direction. Recognize and respond to adverse reactions or complications Evaluation and Clinical Judgement Evaluate patient responses to medications, treatments, and procedures Modify nursing interventions based on patient condition and outcomes Communicate clinically significant findings to providers in a timely manner Use professional nursing judgment to guide safe and effective care Patient Education Provide individualized patient and caregiver education related to: diagnoses and treatment plans, medications and side effects, injection teaching, clean intermittent catheterization, catheter care and infection prevention, and post-procedure and post-operative recovery. Assess patient understanding and ability to perform self-care Reinforce education and return precautions as appropriate Documentation and Regulatory Compliance Document nursing assessments, interventions, evaluations, and patient education in the electronic medical record Maintain compliance with clinic policies, infection control standards, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements Practice in accordance with the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act and clinic policies Delegation and Clinic Support Appropriately delegate select tasks to Medical Assistants or unlicensed assistive personnel in accordance with clinic policy and state regulations Monitor and follow up on delegated tasks to ensure completion and compliance with established protocols. Maintain accountability for outcomes of delegated care Support efficient clinic workflow and patient experience Professional Accountability The Registered Nurse is accountable for practicing within the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act, maintaining professional competence, and delivering safe, ethical, and evidence-based nursing care. The RN retains accountability for all nursing care provided directly and through appropriate delegation.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Travel to other locations (other than "home" clinic) to meet the needs of the other clinic, patients, and physician/APP.JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required to use/have knowledge of use of emergency equipment, elevator, telephone, common office equipment, wheelchairs, exam tables, and other necessary equipment.EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Required Current, unrestricted Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) Knowledge of outpatient clinical workflows and infection control practices Minimum of two years of hospital nursing Strong assessment, communication, and clinical judgment skills Phlebotomy Preferred Prior experience in urology, surgery, or specialty outpatient practice Experience with catheter management and procedural support Familiarity with electronic medical records (EPIC) Experience with telephone or portal triage Current BLS/CPR certificationPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Required to sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, and stretch. Must possess sufficient eye-hand coordination/manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment Required normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and evaluations. Occasionally, may be required to push or pull up to 200 lbs. Required to provide lifting assistance to position patients. Required use of personal protective equipment.WORKING CONDITIONS
(environment and safety): Work performed in office/clinic environment. Involves frequent contact with professional staff and patients. Interaction with others is frequent.Pay:
