1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring at least 2-3 years of specialty OR experience, Epic proficiency, and multi-specialty case exposure. Details Acute care hospital setting in a 9-OR suite with 1 procedure room and 1 hybrid room Unit performs 35-45 cases per day covering general surgery, ENT, ortho, robotics (Davinci, Rosa), spine, vascular, trauma, and pediatric cases Emergent cases include appendectomies, stabbings, and craniotomies Uses Epic EMR Day shift schedule, M-F, 7A-3:30P with varied start times including 8s, 10s, and 12s across the unit Weeknight on-call rotation (7P-7A) and one weekend 24-hour on-call shift per month (7A-7P) Holiday call rotation as needed Call response time is 30 minutes; must remain onsite if farther than 30 minutes away Floating required to outpatient surgery as needed Overnight shifts staffed with only one RN and two techs, requiring comfort working independently across all specialties Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA); PALS preferred 2-3 years of OR specialty experience required 2-3 previous travel assignments required Ortho experience required Experience passing arms in/out for robotic cases required Epic EMR experience required Comfort managing all surgical specialties required for evening and night shifts BSN not required Additional Information Responsibilities include circulating and assisting across a wide range of surgical specialties including ortho, spine, vascular, ENT, and trauma cases OR staff is composed almost entirely of travelers Charge nurse/house supervisor coverage available 7A-7P; travelers rotate through charge responsibilities Scrubbing not required for RNs but considered a plus Scrubs provided for RNs and OR techs Unit/department orientation consists of 3 shifts over 1 week No aides or housekeeping support; OR techs are responsible for room turnover Facility support and mentorship available for candidates willing to learn or refresh a service line, particularly for day shift roles Radius requirement of 50 miles from the facility for local candidate eligibility; no local travelers accepted Previous WVU Medicine employees or travelers must have a 2-year break before reapplying Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than 1 cumulative year without taking a 2-year break All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
