Overview Southern Cancer Center is hiring a Patient Benefits & Financial Coordinator Join Our Team and Make a Meaningful Impact in Patient Care Are you passionate about helping patients navigate the financial side of their healthcare journey? We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Patient Benefits Representative to support patients by providing clarity around insurance coverage, financial responsibility, and available assistance programs. In this role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring patients feel informed, supported, and confident before and during their treatment. This will be a remote position once the right candidate is fully trained. Responsibilities What You'll Do Patient Financial & Insurance Support Educate patients on insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs prior to treatment Assess patients' financial ability to meet expenses and discuss payment options or arrangements Provide guidance on financial assistance programs and assist with application processes Prepare accurate patient cost estimates based on diagnosis, insurance coverage, and available assistance Insurance Verification & Authorization Verify and update patient insurance eligibility, coverage, and demographics in the system Obtain insurance pre-authorizations and referral approvals prior to treatment Ensure accurate entry of co-pay amounts to support front desk collections Patient Coordination & Account Review Review patient balances and coordinate with front desk on patient financial discussions Verify and update patient information at each visit in accordance with SOPs Complete and route required reimbursement and liability forms Program Knowledge & Compliance Stay current on available financial assistance programs and maintain relationships with providers Adhere to all HIPAA, confidentiality, and compliance guidelines Support and uphold the US Oncology Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, and Shared Values Administrative Support Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and records Assist with additional duties and projects as needed Qualifications What You Bring Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3 years of experience in patient pre-services, financial counseling, or a related role Strong knowledge of insurance processes and patient financial workflows Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and computer systems Working knowledge of CPT and HCPCS coding Skills & Abilities Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information in a clear, compassionate manner Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to multitask and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment What Sets You Apart Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic healthcare setting Sound judgment and strong decision-making skills Commitment to delivering high-quality service and improving processes A proactive approach to patient support and problem-solving Work Environment & Physical Requirements Clinical setting with potential exposure to standard oncology office conditions Regular standing, walking, and sitting required Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally Frequent in-person interaction with staff and patients Occasional local travel to clinic locations Why Join Us?
