JOB SPECIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a High School graduate, with 1 year of Patient Access experience. Knowledge of Patient Access and customer service. Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language and communicate effectively Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, visitors, and the public. Must be able to assess, distinguish, report and act upon the physical, social, developmental, and environmental needs of all patients admitted to Whitfield Regional Hospital; and the knowledge to provide age specific healthcare to adults, neonates, infants, adolescents, and geriatric patients; where appropriate or necessary Possess the ability to demonstrate leadership for Patient Accounting Services staff. Must be knowledgeable of organizational and departmental policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines Must possess the ability to work harmoniously with department personnel. Must possess the ability to create and revise schedules for the Patient Access department. Must possess the ability to understand the organization and department operations and to collaborate with the Patient Access Supervisor to help to resolve tactical problems, yet within the scope of defined areas of responsibility. Must possess the ability to show leadership qualities to set an example with Patient Access staff. 2.
PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have personal integrity, flexibility, and ability to collaborate effectively with other personnel Must be able to sit, bend, and move intermittently throughout the workday. Must possess the use of arms, hands, legs, feet, sight, and hearing, or use prosthetics that will accommodate these functions adequately, so that the requirements of the job can be met Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position and set the proper example. 3.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the hospital Patient Access Supervisor in planning, organizing, implementing, and communicating all activities within the Patient Access department. Observe and report to the Patient Access Supervisor any unusual situations, occurrences, conditions, or reactions, including those related to security within the hospital. Collaborate with the Patient Access Supervisor for recommendations for process improvements. Register patients when patients are waiting, and Patient Access staff are busy. Maintain good relations with the public on behalf of WRH and take every opportunity to communicate the humane and constant pursuit of enhanced quality of patient care that meets the needs of WRH patient marketing area. Assist with upfront cash collections when needed. Other duties as assigned by the Patient Access Supervisor.
