Responsibilities Greet patients warmly at the front desk, manage patient check-in and check-out processes, and handle appointment scheduling using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process claims efficiently to ensure timely reimbursements. Collect outstanding balances through accurate medical collections procedures while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Review and update patient medical records, ensuring all documentation aligns with clinical notes, care plans, and coding standards including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10
coding systems. Manage phone communications with excellent phone etiquette, answer multi-line calls promptly, and direct inquiries appropriately. Support clinic operations by maintaining filing systems for medical records, processing incoming correspondence, and managing appointment schedules efficiently. Collaborate with healthcare providers to review documentation for accuracy and completeness, supporting quality care delivery. Requirements Proven experience in a medical office environment or healthcare setting with strong knowledge of medical terminology and ICD coding standards. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is essential. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks. Exceptional customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems confidently. Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Prior clinic office experience is required; familiarity with medical terminology is a plus. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
