JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education High school graduate is required. Minimum of one year of billing experience in health care setting preferred. If previous experience is not available an applicant with business training will be considered. Experience Previous healthcare billing and follow-up experience preferred. Minimum of one year of computer data entry experience required. Able to work under deadline pressure. Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate skills for communicating with all ages, especially the geriatric population. Physical Normal office environment. Close eye work, vision must be corrected to 20/20. Hearing of normal & soft tones. Sitting for 7-8 hours/day. Required to stand, walk, use fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, controls. Requires hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity. Reach with hands and arms. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to airborne particles. Must be able to view computer screens for long periods. Occasional stress related to workload and customers with problems.
JOB SUMMARY
The patient account representative is responsible for accurate and timely collection of claims to third party payers and patients, codes and enters charges, post payments, arranges payment plans, provides cost estimates and updating patient accounts. This position requires timely response to inquiries from both the payer and the patient. This position has high contact with patients, employees, physicians and other members of the community. Occasional stress related to workload and deadline time frames. Attendance is an essential function of this job.
