Performs work from a central office working with patients, physicians, allied health providers and medical office staff. Work is typically performed during normal business hours. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Greet everyone professionally both in person and on the phone Check in and out patients Scheduling Verify insurance eligibility Answer phones / return voicemails Incoming and outgoing faxes and photocopies Maintain excellent relations with referring offices, patients, insurances, etc. Maintain clear documentation in patient's charts Assist providers with all aspects of patient care Registration for new patients Ensure patients have follow up instructions Qualifications and Experience One year medical office experience High School Education Self-directed, organized and problem solver Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Experience with EHR Experience with data entry and insurance verification Knowledge of medical terminology, referral procedures, and health insurance plans Excellent verbal and written communication skills Understanding of a medical office setting and HIPAA requirements
