Job Summary:
The individual who fills this position will be trained in the fundamental duties of the Patient Services Representative, Medical Records Assistant, Medical Assistant, and medical language interpretation to attain a level of competency as a relief worker for these functions when the need arises. Standard duties include front desk and back office clinic duties, medical records duties, providing support in the front desk reception area for patient registration, appointment scheduling, patient follow-up and referrals, language interpretation assistance to various clinic personnel, and providing limited and simple medical assistance in the nursing area under the supervision of the Clinic Site RN Manager or Clinic Units Manager. Medical Assistance Provide limited medical assistance services such as the basic prepping of patients including taking and recording vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure), height, and weight, and other simple nursing procedures as appropriate after completing training that will be provided. They will provide a CPR certificate. Assist in some clerical duties in Triage. Medical Records Assemble new patient charts and emboss patient ID cards. Maintain and update patient medical records. Pull medical records in preparation for appointments and upon urgent requests. Receive and respond to requests for release of medical records and other correspondence File patient cards, laboratory reports, radiology reports, and other correspondence in the medical records as needed. Assist with the annual purge of inactive medical records. Maintain medical records supplies. Medical Reception/Patient Registration/Appointments and Referrals The answer, screen, and route telephone calls during peak hours. Greet patients, register, update patient information, collect a payment, and reschedule patients during peak hours. Make appointment reminder calls. Send patient follow-up letters for broken appointments. Record cancellations in the medical record and give it to the provider for review. Complete referral forms and assist patients in scheduling referral appointments as needed. Stock referral forms. Provide interpretation for providers, nurses, and other staff to patients and other clients as needed. Medical language interpretation competency is required. Training may be provided as necessary. Minimum Qualifications High school graduate with at least two years of work-related experience. Bilingual/bicultural in an Asian language required - Cantonese and/or Mandarin Familiarity/knowledge of the Asian community. Preferred Qualifications Experience preferably in a community clinic Familiarity with medical billing preferable Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Possession of active CPR training certificate desirable Benefits That Support You We're committed to supporting our team's well-being.
