Job:
The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for managing patients' health records and history, as well as sorting mail and records requests. Their main duties include gathering and filing patient information and processing records requests, collecting and dropping-off the mail, assisting with verifying cash batches in the clinic, reconcile daily batches, patient and insurance payments, and prepare the daily deposits for the bank. The position is a Full-Time Non-Exempt position.
Essential Job Functions:
Preparing patient records and gathering information and documents to send to either insurance carriers, patients, or physician offices Ensuring that the medical records requests are organized, accurate, and complete Creating digital copies of paperwork and storing records electronically Safeguarding patient records and ensuring that everyone complies with HIPAA standards Pick-up and drop-off mail in the operator room Assist verifying cash batches in the clinic, when needed Reconcile daily batches, patient, and insurance payments Verify patient's account statement balance Verify insurance checks for account number and EOR's/EOB's Make copies of both patient and insurance checks Create daily deposit and summary spreadsheet for the bank Create batches and scan into document management Scan all charge entry batches into document management Enter approved refunds into accounting system of check processing Submit medical records requested by insurance plans Submit paper claims with attached records to Workers Compensation carriers Processing of daily credit card charges and refunds Distribute correspondence in the office Date stamp all incoming mail related to the billing office Perform other duties and projects as assigned Expectations Maintain confidentiality; adhere to all HIPPA guidelines/regulations Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Maintain workflows and follows company's policies and procedures Diligent and reliable Attention to detail Prioritize tasks by level of importance to complete tasks in a timely manner Education and Experience High School Diploma/GED is required Previous medical office or banking experience required 10-key proficient

Equipment Operated:
Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Work Environment:
Position may be in either a well-lighted office or home environment.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
Involves sitting approximately 50 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder.
