Business Casual Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Patient Account Representative to join our Hospital Business Office. This role is responsible for managing hospital accounts receivable by performing insurance follow-up, collections, denial resolution, and reimbursement activities for institutional (UB-04) claims. The ideal candidate has experience with hospital facility billing, payer guidelines, and healthcare collections in a fast-paced revenue cycle environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring timely reimbursement while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities Review hospital accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize outstanding accounts. Perform insurance follow-up on unpaid or underpaid institutional (UB-04) claims. Contact Medicare, Medi-Cal, commercial insurance carriers, and other payers regarding outstanding balances. Investigate claim denials, payment variances, and reimbursement issues. Prepare and submit appeals to maximize reimbursement. Verify insurance eligibility using payer websites, portals, and insurance customer service. Resolve billing discrepancies by collaborating with billing, coding, and other revenue cycle departments. Document all collection and follow-up activities accurately within the hospital billing system. Monitor claim status and ensure timely follow-up according to payer guidelines. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, hospital policies, and state and federal regulations. Meet productivity and quality standards while managing a high-volume workload. Required QualificationsEducation High School Diploma or GED required Experience 1-3 years of experience in: Hospital Accounts Receivable Medical Collections Insurance Follow-Up Healthcare Revenue Cycle Experience working with institutional (UB-04) facility claims Experience following up on facility claims across multiple lines of business Experience obtaining insurance eligibility through payer websites, portals, and insurance representatives Preferred Qualifications Hospital Business Office experience Facility billing and collections experience Denial management and appeals experience Experience with Medicare, Medi-Cal, and commercial insurance payers Revenue Cycle or Patient Financial Services experience Knowledge & Skills Strong understanding of hospital billing processesKnowledge of:
UB-04 Facility Billing CPT Coding ICD-10 Coding DRG Reimbursement Familiarity with Medicare, Medi-Cal, and commercial payer guidelines Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify payment variances and denial trends Excellent communication and negotiation skills for payer interactions Proficiency with hospital billing systems and Microsoft Office Suite Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to prioritize multiple accounts and meet productivity goalsAya Offers:
