Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Insurance Verification Clerk to join our healthcare administrative team. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of health insurance policies and insurance verification processes. This role is essential in ensuring accurate and timely verification of patient insurance coverage, facilitating smooth billing procedures, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. The Insurance Verification Clerk will play a vital role in supporting clinical operations by managing insurance information efficiently and providing excellent customer service to patients and providers alike. Responsibilities Verify patient insurance coverage by contacting managed care organizations, insurance companies, or utilizing electronic health records (EHR) systems. Obtain prior authorization for medical procedures and services in accordance with health insurance policies. Maintain and update patient demographics, ensuring authorizations are in place. Adhere to EHR management protocols during verification processes. Qualifications Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare administrative setting is highly preferred. Knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and insurance prior authorization procedures. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
